Le magnat de la chandelle Chapitre quinzième

D'abord, ce fut la douleur, une douleur lancinante qui allait et venait au rythme des battements de son cœur, qui lui enserrait la tête et lui mordait les côtes, en plus de lui tordre la cheville. Steelhart grogna; elle se sentait si lourde et empâtée qu'elle renonça d'abord à bouger. Puis, ce fut le froid et l'humidité qu'elle sentit se glisser partout sous sa peau. Steelhart palpa le sol autour d'elle et découvrit avec dégoût qu'elle était couchée sur un lit de boue gluante et de mousse humide.

Bertrand Dandonneau était ce qu'il convient d'appeler un chasseur de primes. Loin de vous l'image du grand homme intergalactique musclé et armé à la mine patibulaire! Non. Les primes que recherchait Bertrand à tout prix étaient les primes à l'achat. Une obsession brûlante, mordante et dévorante prenant racine dans son enfance.

Tout jeune déjà, il ne vivait que pour une chose : la surprise dans la boîte de céréales. Obtenir le petit jouet après avoir éparpillé le contenu de ladite boîte, exaspérant sa mère à tout coup, le faisait se sentir important car il avait l'impression d'être récompensé, valorisé. Bounty Hunter - TranslatedBertie Bowell was what we could call a bounty hunter. No, no, forget that image that just popped in your mind about an intergalactic, tall, muscled and fully armed man with a mean look on his face! No. The bounties Bertie was seeking were purchase bonuses. A burning, devouring obsession that came from his childhood.

At very young age, he lived for only one thing: the gift in the cereal box. Obtaining the gift after spreading the contents of the box all over the table, exasperating his mother each time, was for him a way to feel important, rewarded, valorized; a feeling that was far from fading as Bertie grew up.

Hello!

Just to let anybody who still remembers me that I am alive and very well.

I'll be done with school forever in just about 2 months, and I don't even have to look for a job, because I learned on Friday that I got the best I could ever hope for: I'll work as a translator for the government, with tons of opportunities to improve, and a salary beyond my wildest dreams (though, I'll be honest, here, my wildest salary dreams were never all that wild to begin with).

I don't think that I'll post anything here ever again... though, I do plan on writing again someday, all that's missing is time and, mostly, ideas. I'll keep coming to check on you all as I've done in the recent months though.

Uh, so which one are you actually mad about? Your boyfriend's reaction or the fact that the guy almost ran over your brother? And if Jean-François doesn't want to go beat the driver's head off with a wrench, maybe he has a reason? It's possible that there's more to it than you might think; you ought to ask him. If you still feel like going and giving this guy a piece of your mind yourself, then you apparently know where to find him. Even though I relish unloading on people when they make me mad, I find that it usually isn't the best way to go about things. This guy, whoever he is, probably won't listen and in fact will most likely just start to shut you out - as well as what he should have learned... and who knows, maybe he has a conscience.
